Kennedy Caters’ Director of Client Services, Helen Edwards, is one of the Speakers at the 2017 LLG Governance Conference, which will take place at the Assembly Rooms in Bath on 18th and 19th of October.
Helen will introduce the 2pm break -out session on Wednesday 18th, alongside Ian Winslet, Regional Director of Ark Consultancy Ltd, and Louise Rawsthorne, Assistant Director of Investment & Commercial Activity at Babergh & Mid Suffolk District Councils (BMS).
Ark are currently working with BMS on their investment programme, and the session;
Profit for Purpose – avoiding the pitfalls, will examine how this investment programme has worked in practice, and share the benefit of their experiences. It will explore the profit motivation behind a company structure set up jointly by two Suffolk Councils. The session will give detailed insight into the procurement processes, risks, governance structures and mitigating practical steps required when establishing a £50 million property investment fund, and how this has led to further commercial opportunities.
Kennedy Cater were involved in the early stages of this arrangement, assisting with the procurement of investment consultants, and as well as introducing the session Helen with talk more generally about the increasing Commercialisation in local government. Redbridge and Greenwich have become the latest London Authorities to join the London Boroughs’ Legal Alliance in a move that sees the LBLA grow its full membership to 20.
The London Borough of Redbridge is a new member of the Association. Fiona Alderman, Head of Legal & Constitutional Services at Redbridge, comments:
“Having experienced membership of the LBLA in my previous role at Brent, I understood the value that it can bring. I was keen for Redbridge to join in order to take advantage of all the fantastic advantages the LBLA offers.
