On Wednesday 6th June, Tim Morel will be presenting a workshop 'Saving money through a Legal Services framework' at the CHIC Conference & Exhibition, 'Invest to Save' at Sixways Stadium, Worcester.
The Conference provides the opportunity for Members and Non-Members to engage with the CHIC supply chain and attend a varied programme of workshops and seminars relating to the hot topics facing social housing.
Tim will discuss the benefits of CHIC's specialist legal services framework that is managed by Kennedy Cater. Delegates from across the housing spectrum will hear him draw from recent case studies to outline the significant savings that members can make through accessing legal services at discounted rates, without compromising the quality of service or advice received.
The workshop will be held in the Mercian Suite, from 10.30-11.30, and will be chaired by Andy Howarth from Fortis Living. Following the session Tim will be available on CHIC's main stand to answer any questions.

Kennedy Cater is proud to have sponsored the 2018 Monitoring Officers report which has just been published by Local Government Lawyer.
The report is the culmination of an extensive survey in which more than 100 local authority Monitoring Officers took part.
The aim of the report is to identify and analyse the challenges ahead for monitoring officers, their deputies and other lawyers involved in the governance of local authorities.
It comes at a time when the role is under great pressure and the survey aims to identify the key issues that they face and, with the help of some of the most senior current practitioners, including KC’s Tim Morel, who came together at a round table event to identify effective strategies to address them.

KC Director Tim Morel recently spoke at the 2018 LLG Weekend School which was held in Bristol.
This annual Conference gives delegates from across the Public Sector the opportunity to engage with thought leaders, working in or across local government. As well as providing a strong conference programme where specialists shared knowledge with colleagues on all aspects of legal services within local government, the weekend was heavily focused on breakout seminars where key issues and challenges faced by everyone working in the local government legal arena were addressed.
Tim was invited to speak alongside Abdus Choudery from Norfolk County Council and Quentin Baker from LGSS, in a session on ‘Commercialising the In-House Legal Team: Lessons to Learn’.
More than 40 delegates listened as Tim kicked off the presentation by stressing the importance of undertaking an initial ‘spend analysis assessment’, before asking delegates to consider what clients they are actually aiming for, and posing the question as to whether they and their organisations are ultimately prepared to change to meet the challenges of trading.
The subject matter was of course timely, given the continuing pressures on local authority budgets. The session was a critical success with LLG praising the ‘very strong panel’ who provided an in-depth guide to local authority legal teams looking to go down this route.
